Long Gone

Ep. 97: Spring Training Invites, Tatis Emerges, Then & Now (1B)

This week on Long Gone:

In this week’s episode, the boys talk Spring Training prospect invites. Names such as Pete Crow-Armstrong, Marcelo Mayer, Jackson Holliday and Henry Davis are packing their bags and are going to be rubbing shoulders with the big club stars. Fernando Tatis Jr. emerged last week to speak about his upcoming season. This will be a redemption year for the once-promising star. Will he rise to the occasion? Where will he play now that Xander Bogaerts is a Padre? Is he still the most important player on the roster? Afterwards, the boys talk about Dodger great Fernando Venezuela’s jersey (#34) being retired by LA. A very respectable honor from a club that is picky about whose numbers they retire. The Then & Now series trucks on with the boys selecting their top-five best first basemen of the 80s and pair them with the best first basemen in the game right now. They round out the show with Collection Corner, and then Steve sees if he can go 3-for-3 for this week’s trivia.
