On this week’s episode of the Sunny in PHX Podcast, Charlie Erling and Mitch Krmpotich discuss the recent findings of the Robert Sarver investigation, the punishment he received, and how the basketball world has been reacting to the news.
After a year-long investigation, we finally heard the outcome and the punishment directed towards Sarver. A one year ban from the team as well as a $10 million dollar fine. Many fans were just happy to see that the investigation had come to a close after all the waiting around – but that quickly turned to disappointment when the punishment and fines equated to a slap on the wrist.
The guys discuss the investigation and punishment, but then turn to the public reaction that has come from the investigation. Chris Paul and LeBron James are two current players who have spoken out, as well as the NBA Player’s Association, the mayor of Phoenix, and numerous sports media personalities.
PayPal has said that they will pull out of their sponsorship deal if Sarver remains as owner of the team. The guys discuss the trickle down effect this will have when it comes to finding new sponsors to support the team.
Thanks for tuning in, and Go Suns!
