Longtime baseball executive Fred Claire joins the show. Claire served as the general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1987 to 1998. He began his career in the media, and joined the Dodgers in their public relations department. He became the general manager after former GM Al Campanis appeared on ABC’s Nightline and made derogatory comments about black people. He put the 1988 World Championship team together.
Claire is the subject of a new book, “Extra Innings – Fred Claire’s Journey to City of Hope and Finding a World Championship Team.” The proceeds of the book (https://amzn.to/3kV31zm) go directly to City of Hope, where Claire is actively involved.
After his career as an executive, Claire went back to the media, joining MLB Advanced Media and MLB Radio during the 2000’s, working with Seth Everett.
