Longtime sports executive Mike McCarthy joins the show this week. McCarthy is currently the General Manager of the Marquee Sports Network, a new regional sports network based out of Chicago, owned in part by the Chicago Cubs.
McCarthy started his career at Madison Square Garden, starting as an intern and ascending all the way to President of MSG Network. He was also the CEO of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and COO of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks.
In this episode, McCarthy spoke about the new Cubs’ RSN. He addressed non-play-by-play programming for RSNs. The issues with cord-cutting as RSNs also was a topic. McCarthy also discussed the relationship that Chicago fans have with their beloved Cubs.
