On Monday, January 16, 2023, during ESPN’s coverage of the NFL Playoff game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the new trailer for Season 3 of the Disney+ Star Wars series “The Mandalorian” premiered. It showed the titular character in various action scenes. However, Mando was also with Grogu, aka Baby Yoda. However, in the dramatic Season 2 finale, Mando said goodbye to Grogu.
The missing piece here was in Episodes 5 and 6 of another Disney+ Star Wars show “The Book of Boba Fett.” In it, the Mandalorian is reunited with Grogu. Social media was quick to point out that unless you saw the Boba Fett show, a major plot point from the Mandalorian was missing. This raised the issue that deals with franchises. In order to be a Star Wars fan, do you have to watch ALL things Star Wars? Does that apply to Marvel and DC and other franchises?
Star Wars insider J.C. Reifenberg returns to the podcast to discuss this latest Star Wars controversy.
