Longtime super-agent Leigh Steinberg joined the show to discuss his illustrious career as well as his thoughts on issues facing the NFL. Steinberg has represented many of the most successful athletes and coaches in football, basketball, baseball, hockey, boxing, golf, etc., including the number one overall pick in the NFL draft for an unprecedented eight times in conjunction with 62 total first-round picks. His clients include Troy Aikman, Steve Young, Warren Moon, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Kordell Stewart, Jeff George, Ben Roethlisberger, Myron Rolle, Matt Leinart, Mark Brunell, Ricky Williams, Howie Long, Eric Karros, Dusty Baker, Lennox Lewis, Oscar de la Hoya and John Starks.
Steinberg is often credited as the real-life inspiration of the sports agent from the film Jerry Maguire. In this episode, he discusses how he got involved in the film and the story behind its creation.
