342. Author Jeff Pearlman on Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers

In March 2022 a new scripted series about the Los Angeles Lakers 1980’s championship run entitled “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” starring John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Sally Field, Adrian Brody, as part of an incredible cast. The show is based on Jeff Pearlman’s 2014 book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s, and Jeff joins the podcast for a second time.

Pearlman’s first appearance on Sports with Friends was Episode 165 when he was promoting his book on the original USFL.

In this episode, Pearlman tells the story about how the book became this series and the differences between the two. He also detailed his involvement during the production of the show, and the possibilities of its continuing beyond this first season.
