Hall of Justice

344. VFX Artist Kenneth Lui on Marvel, DC, and Artists in Agony

This week on Hall of Justice:

Kenneth Lui was a visual effects artist on such films as Doctor Strange, Captain America: Civil War, Batman V Superman, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr. Strange, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Iron Man 3, and countless others. He recently released his first independent directorial feature entitled “Artists in Agony.” The Award-winning filmmaker calls Artists in Agony a crime comedy, which can currently be seen on Tubi and available on Demand at other digital retailers.

In this episode, Lui discusses how he crafted his first feature-length film. He explained the process of finding actors for the film and seeing what footage he had before he knew he had enough for a film. He also discussed how he got into the VFX business, and comments on work he did for various Marvel, DC, and Transformers films he worked on.

For the first time, we have a Hall of Justice giveaway. The video game Arcadegeddon is an ever-evolving multiplayer rogue-lite game that allows you to play solo or with up to three friends to explore multiple biomes, mini-games, find hidden chests, and defeat numerous enemy types and boss levels. As you continue to play, you can take on additional challenges from the local “gangs” that hang out in Gilly’s Arcade. These will earn you much more than street cred. Speaking of street cred, earn your spot on the global leaderboards. 10 free copies of Arcadegeddon are exclusively available to Hall of Justice listeners.

The first 10 listeners to send a DM to Seth Everett on Twitter (now X), Instagram, Threads, or Facebook with the words HALL OF JUSTICE and ARCADE.
