In March 2022, the St. Peter’s Peacocks became just the third team in NCAA tournament history to defeat a 2-seed when they upset Kentucky. After then defeating Murray State to advance to the Sweet 16, the notoriety grew exponentially. Suddenly, news reports talked about the amazing story of St. Peters and all the benefits of them winning on a national stage.
This episode asks the question of how all this exposure can be quantified. Will more students enroll? Do they get more money to fund other school programs? Is student morale something that can be measured?
Scott Rosner, Academic Director of Sports Management and Professor at Columbia University, joins the show to discuss the empirical data and all the factors that can impact St. Peters both positively and negatively.
