From one race to another, the boys turn their attention to the MVP races in both leagues. They debate who currently has the edge and a few of their choices may come as a surprise. The boys also pay tribute to the late Tommy John, reflecting on the career and legacy of the former pitcher and pioneer whose name became synonymous with one of the most important procedures in sports. They debate whether John belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame and, if so, why Cooperstown has yet to come calling. Later, author and CBS Sports writer Matt Snyder joins the show to discuss the fallout from the trade deadline, a potentially wild offseason ahead, the evolution of the league, and his new book, The Leadoff Hitter.
