Right before the Season 2 premiere of the CW show Batwoman, Javicia Leslie joins the Hall of Justice podcast. After season 1, Ruby Rose, who played Kate Kane, left the show. Rather than recast the title role, the show decided to bring in a new character to wear the cape and cowl of Batwoman. Leslie played Ryan Wilder, a goofy, relatable, and street-smart woman who transforms into the hero Gotham’s been missing.
Leslie is known to television audiences for her role as Ali Finer on “God Friended Me” and Paris Duncan on “The Family Business.” On the feature film front, she recently tackled the lead role in the hilarious new comedy, “Always a Bridesmaid,” penned by NAACP nominated Yvette Nicole Brown. Leslie also directed two short films this year, “Black Excellence” and “Howl.”
This episode focuses on her embracing the role and is spoiler-free.
In the season premiere, Ryan Wilder first discovers Kate Kane’s Batsuit, she has no idea how drastically her life is about to change. Ryan sees the suit as her chance to finally be powerful and no longer a victim as she survives in the tough streets of the city.
