This week on Hall of Justice:

WARNING: Do not listen to this episode unless you have seen the 2023 WBD/DC Comics animated series “My Adventures with Superman” or do not mind hearing key plot points.

My Adventures with Superman debuted in 2023 on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim and aired on the streaming app MAX. The 10-episode first season recently completed its run. Josie Campbell was a co-producer and writer on the show, and she returns for her second appearance on the podcast (Episode 317).
In this episode, Campbell explains how this show is unique to other Superman series and films. She talks about the decision to make Clark, Lois, and Jimmy interns at the Daily Planet, and Superman doesn’t have all of his powers yet. There is also a lot of homage to other Superman media and Campbell explains precisely how the film respects what’s been done in the past, yet doesn’t repeat the same plot.

This episode also explains how animation is not part of the WGA or SAG-AFTRA strike, but rather a separate working arrangement covered by a different contract.
