College football is in the midst of a historic season. It’s the first with the newly revamped college football playoff and the first with large-scale realignment among its big conferences. College football insider Brett McMurphy joins the show to discuss the effects of all the moves and gives insight into where college athletics are going.
Brett started his career as a senior writer for The Tampa Tribune before jumping into the national scene in 2009 with AOL FanHouse, CBS Sports, and eventually ESPN. During his tenure at ESPN, he broke several major stories and contributed to various platforms, including television and digital media. His reporting style, characterized by meticulous research and a knack for uncovering hidden details, made him a trusted source among sports fans and professionals.
After leaving ESPN, Brett joined Stadium in 2017, where he continued to cover college sports and expanded his role as an investigative reporter. At Stadium, he maintained his reputation for delivering exclusive news and insightful analysis, cementing his status as one of the foremost authorities on college athletics. During Brett’s career, he has broken several big stories, including the domestic violence allegations against former Ohio State assistant Zach Smith, realignment stories such as Oregon and Washington joining the Big Ten and Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah joining the Big 12.
In this episode, McMurphy explains his new role at the Action Network. He also breaks down the impact of his reporting on major college stories, and the support he received when he left ESPN.
