On this week’s episode of the Sunny in PHX Podcast, Charlie Erling and MItch Krmpotich talk about the NBA rookie contract extension deadline, and then predict the Suns statistical leaders, the Suns final record, and give their Hot and Cold Takes for the season.
The guys start the episode by discussing what did and didn’t happen at the extension deadline. Mikal Bridges and Landry Shamet both inked extensions with the club, but negotiations with Deandre Ayton came to an end, and they did not come to a deal. Bridges will stick around for 4 years for $90m and Shamet 4yrs/$43m, but the Suns did not hand out the max contract to Ayton like many of us were expecting.
After that, the guys predict the statistcal leader in each stat category for the Suns this year. Who will average the most points per game, rebounds per game, etc. They also predict the Suns final record, spoiler: both guys pick a number in the 50s for the first time ever.
The guys wrap up the show by giving their Hot and Cold Takes to the season. Will someone consider Jalen Smith for Most Improved? Probably not, but Charlie thinks so. Tune in to hear the rest.
Thanks for listening. Go Suns!
