On this week’s episode of the Sunny in PHX Podcast, Charlie Erling and Mitch Krmpotich talk about what the Suns need to do to be successful without Chris Paul, recap last week’s games, and preview this week’s games.
Without Paul running the point, all signs point to there being a huge hole in the Suns system. Add in the absence of Cameron Payne, and it looks like the Suns will be struggling to run their offense for the time being. With Payne hopefully returning soon, the Suns will still need guys like Aaron Holiday, Landry Shamet, and Elfrid Payton to step up to fill the void.
The Suns went 1-2 on the week, beating the OKC Thunder while falling to the Pelicans and the Jazz. The team looked fresh off the All-Star break, seeing 20+ point games from Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, and Cameron Johnson. The next game was a back-to-back against a new-look Pelicans team, and we all can remember the final seconds of the rough loss to the Jazz.
The Suns have a couple days off before their next game, hopefully increasing the chances of a Payne return. They face the Trail Blazers and Knicks at home, before heading to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks.
Thanks for tuning in, and Go Suns!
